Meet Information: Pioneer Park, West Van Dorn and Coddington Ave., Lincoln, NE (I-80 to Highway 77 south towards Beatrice; take West Van Dorn exit to Pioneer Park. Alternate route: I-80 to Crete exit at Highway 103; go south to Highway 6; turn east/left to town of Emerald to SW 84th/Spur 55A; turn south/right to West VanDorn; turn east/left to Pioneer Park)
Out of class 6th period, meet in hallway 1:10PM, bus leaves 1:15PM

The Islanders bounced back to their competitive ways at the HAC XC Meet today at Pioneer Park. Both teams ran extremely well and placed 6th in their respective team races. The HAC Meet has always been extremely tough with many of the top teams in the State competing. This years race was no exception as boys rated #1 Fremont, #5 LSW, #6 LE, and #7 LSE and girls rated #4 LSW, #5 LE, and #7 LSE competed.
In the girls race, Hailey Schmidt ran one of the better races of this season by placing 14th in 16:24.0 (course PR by 14 sec). The entire girls team ran extremely well and were helped by senior Bailey Glade breaking the 18 min barrier placing 36th in 17:51.8 followed closely by Alexis Thompson in 18:05.1 (38th) and Tera McVicker in 18:16.4 (40th). Rounding out the team scoring for the Islanders were Nadine Sievers, Beatrice Turchi, and Andrea Voss. These seven will be representing the Lady Islanders next Thursday at the A4 District XC Meet at Centura Hills.
The boys were very impressive being paced by senior Seth Meharg’s 10th place finish in 16:56.0; this time was also a break through for Seth as he broke the 17:00 barrier! Tanner McClaren ran his best race of the season by placing 33rd (18:09.6 – course PR of 23 sec). Alex Hart (18:18.5) again showed his competitive consistency by placing 37th taking over a minute off his pervious course best time. Impressive performances were also turned in by Carter Duis (46th – 18:59.5; course PR of 23 sec) and Colin Appel who was the silver medalist in the JV race in a time of 17:51.8. Also, Charlie Exstrum ran the finest race of his young career by placing 146th in the JV race (25:58.6). The boys that will represent the Islanders next week at the A4 District XC Meet will include: Seth Meharg, Colin Appel, Tanner McLaren, Alex Hart, Austin Appel, Carter Duis, and Luke McGregor.
