Freshmen Hailey Schmidt and Tera McVicker lead the GI Girls to a 5th place team finish at the Titan Invitational. Both girls, running their first cross-country race, attacked the course. Norway foreign exchange student Maren Mykkeitveit and senior Erin Sheffield added solid performances for the team. Erin cut almost 20 seconds off her time from last year's PLVS meet. Rounding out the scoring for GI was senior Traci Coleman who cut 30 seconds from last years time. The girls team, as a whole, looked and competed extremely well!
For the GI boys, senior captain Chase McClaren ran one the finest races of his career by placing 5th behind last years Class A individual champ Parker Schoen of LSW. Chase's time was almost 50 seconds faster than last years time at this meet. Sophomore Austin Appel earned his first varsity medal by placing 14th cutting almost 90 seconds off of last years time. Each member of the varsity boys team that competed at this meet last year improved their time.
JV boys runner Arman Johnsen, also a foreign exchange student from Norway ran a super race placing 12th and earning his way onto the varsity team. Overall, both teams showed a lot of promise for the upcoming season.
