Walnut Middle School holds Kids Outdoor Expo

GRAND ISLAND —
Only 15 minutes into Walnut Middle School's fifth annual Tri-City Kids Outdoor Expo on Monday afternoon, the school's commons area was already a symphony of activity.

Duck calls echoed through the space, beckoning students to the Ducks Unlimited table.

Hammers pounded away as students put together birdhouses at a station run by the school's Construction Club.

And beneath it all was the din of kids excitedly chattering about the station they'd just stopped at as they rushed to the next one.

All that action might have been a pleasant surprise to the organizers of the first event just a few years ago.  Full Story
