Todd Enck of T.C. Enck Builders and Capt. Chris Kolb of the Nebraska State Patrol got to see some of Grand Island Senior High's curriculum diversity -- ELL classes, auto shop, high-ability learner program and Air Force Junior ROTC -- during their stint Tuesday as Principals for a Day.

About 15 other people from different walks of life in Grand Island also got a firsthand look at Grand Island's schools during the annual Principal for a Day program. They got to see classes at various elementary and middle schools.

The day for Enck and Kolb began with a tour of Senior High, followed by a stop in Amanda Levos' English language learner classroom, where she was teaching world history to Level 3 and Level 4 English language learners. The students were doing research that would allow them to compare different world religions.

The primary goal for students was to identify the fundamental ideas and characteristics of the major world religions. As part of answering that overall question, students were to identify the sacred text for each religion, name the founders and leaders of the world's major religions and show the geographical location of where each of the major world religions got its start.  Full Story
