The Grand Island school board will be asked to hire two new assistant superintendents at its board meeting Thursday night.

The board will be asked to hire Robin Dexter as the new assistant superintendent for student services. She would replace Jim Werth, who is retiring.

It also will be asked to hire Vernon Fisher as assistant superintendent for teaching and learning to replace Steve Burkholder, who will be given new duties.

Fisher is the director for school improvement for the Lincoln Public Schools. Prior to holding that post, he had been principal at Northeast High School in Lincoln. He also has worked as principal at Beatrice Middle School.  Full Story
