GRAND ISLAND —
First come the sneak peaks, then the official opening of the new Engleman Elementary.
Grand Island school board members are scheduled to take a tour Dec. 11
of the new Engleman, which was converted into a K-5 building from the
former Westridge Middle School.
Board members are scheduled to tour the building at 5 p.m., 90 minutes
before the start of their December board meeting, said Dan Petsch,
director of building and grounds.
Petsch said Engleman students will begin the school day on Dec. 19 at
the current K-5 school at Capital Avenue and Engleman Road.
They will be bused to the new Engleman, where they will be given the
opportunity to find their classrooms and lockers, Petsch said. They
also will eat lunch in the new building, with parents picking up their
children from the new Engleman at the end of the school day.
Engleman students then will have their first regular day of class in
their new school on the first day of the second semester, which is Jan.
