Shoemaker Elementary students got a quick sketch lesson Wednesday on what it takes to be a book illustrator and author.

That lesson came courtesy of children's book author and illustrator Mike Artell of Covington, La.

Artell's children's books include "Starry Skies," which teaches kids about space; "Weather Whys," which answers kids' questions about the weather; "Backyard Bloodsuckers," which tells kids about insects that can be found in their own yards; "Pee Yew!," a book about smelly insects and animals; and "Laugh Your Head Off," a book of puns, riddles, knock-knock jokes and other humor.  Full Story
