Technology training that works

Grand Island officials who visited Francis Tuttle Technology Center in Oklahoma City and Meridian Technology Center in Stillwater, Okla., this past Tuesday learned that both schools use individualized and self-paced learning to teach their students.
The outward similarities between the two schools were evident to the Grand Island education and business officials, who visited Oklahoma to see what ideas they could apply to Grand Island's own career and technical education center, which is in the works. Each of the Oklahoma technology centers has 10 high schools in its coverage area.
Students at both technology centers spend half the day at their home high schools and half at the tech center, where they study in a well-defined career and technical education program. Francis Tuttle and Meridian each educate high school students and adults, often side by side.
