It was a look of confusion, then shock that crossed the face of Stolley Park first-grade teacher Terry Wiegand as a yellow cardboard school bus "drove" into her classroom Monday.
The Grand Island Education Foundation surprised teachers at 10 schools Monday and will visit another five sites today to award 21 mini-grants for classroom projects that add value to the curriculum. Nearly $16,000 will be given in the two days. Grant awards typically range from $200 to $2,000.
At Stolley Park, Wiegand and Cara Kuhl, Stolley Park integration specialist, were awarded $211 for the Stolley Park Counts on Reading program.
