Students speak of importance of teachers

Grand Island Public Schools teachers got a vivid reminder Friday of why they’re in the teaching profession: the impact they have on students.

That reminder came from current student Andres Gamboa and former student Kristina Guerrero-Cisneros.

Gamboa said his family came to Grand Island when his father was threatened by Colombian terrorists who wanted to prevent his company from helping rebuild a Colombian Army base.

“They told my father that they knew where I went to school, where my mother went to work and where my brother went to school,” said Gamboa.  Full Story
