Students learn about Philippines

For most of the school year at Howard Elementary, Tess Westover is one of the second-grade teachers.

On Monday afternoon, she was a member of a Filipino dance group that showed Howard Elementary students some of the traditional dances from the Philippines, Westover's land of birth.

The dancers came to Howard as part of the school's afternoon intersession under the school's first-ever continuous calendar. The afternoon intersessions are designed as academic enrichment classes for students, who attend the classes on a voluntary basis.  Full Story
