Newell Elementary received the Exemplary Reading Program Award.
Newell's principal, Brad Wolfe, received a certificate indicating his
unique literacy activities make the school a standout in Nebraska.
Monthly schoolwide reading celebrations, Words of the Week, and fluency
and singing activities are some of the literacy-based activities
offered at the school. Only one other Nebraska school, Gordon
Elementary School, received the same recognition.
Frasier received the Celebrate Literacy Award. She retired from her first-grade teaching job at Wasmer Elementary School at the conclusion of the 2005-06 school year and now lives in Kearney. She has been a member of the Central Nebraska Reading Council for more than 30 years and has held every office in the council. Full Story
