Six to be honored at GISH banquet

The Grand Island Education Foundation will honor five alumni and one former teacher at the 2011 Grand Island Senior High Hall of Honor Banquet on Thursday, Oct. 6, at Riverside Golf Club.

The 2011 Hall of Honor Inductees include Bob Sorensen, class of 1944; Sharon Kay Ritchie Mullin, class of 1954; John R. Linton, class of 1964; Rex W. Ridenoure, class of 1974; and Matthew Placzek, class of 1983.

Former English, speech and debate teacher, the late Jim Cassey, will be honored as Legendary Educator.


The Legendary Educator Award Program was inaugurated in 2009 to recognize the outstanding educators who have made a difference to the thousands of students who have attended the Grand Island Public Schools.

The evening’s festivities will begin at 6 p.m. and include a reception, dinner and program.

Tickets are $40 per person if purchased by Oct. 3, and $45 per person thereafter. Tickets can be purchased at the Grand Island Public Schools’ Kneale Administration Building, 123 S. Webb Road.  Full Story
