Senior High students adopt ‘Go Green’ theme for Wellness Center board’s annual pep rally

There were plenty of gasps to go around at Grand Island Senior High’s Go Green pep rally Friday morning.

Principal Kent Mann got one from the crowd for his belly flop onto a plastic scooter while inching his way across the gym during a recycling race.

A few teams in the slime tug-of-war got gasps, too, when they crashed to the floor, mid-tug, in a messy heap.

But Activities Director Joe Kutlas also got one when he told the students that Americans throw away 2.5 million plastic bottles every hour.  Full Story
