GRAND ISLAND —
Nearly
400 young people received diplomas as Grand Island Senior High
celebrated its 126th annual commencement and the second at the
Heartland Events Center.
Graduation was a festive occasion, starting with the processional that
saw the soon-to-be graduates walking one-by-one onto the arena floor
from the east and west entrances until they met in the center aisle of
the seats that were awaiting them.
Then, the students walked two-by-two down the aisle, until they split again to find their chairs.
When Kent Mann welcomed the audience and the "Class of 2008," cheers
broke out for the three-word phrase that was to receive acclaim
numerous times throughout the ceremony.
