School’s class for parents focuses on new food pyramid

Rome wasn't built in a day, and getting lots of parents into Wasmer Elementary did not happen on Tuesday's first attempt.
Kristin Schultz, who is in her first year as the social worker at Wasmer, had Sandra Barrera, an extension assistant with the Hall County Extension office, come to school Tuesday morning to talk to parents about the "new food pyramid" and how it should be used in planning nutritious meals.
But in the case of Tuesday's meeting, parents turned out to be a single parent, Darla Gardner, who came to school to hear Barrera's presentation.
Also sitting in on the nutrition talk was Ruth Osborne, a food service worker for the Wasmer Elementary cafeteria.
