School district supporters discuss G.I.'s needs for new superintendent

A person deeply involved not only in the school system, but also in the community.

Those are some of the qualities Jennifer Badura, Nicki Stoltenberg and Densel Rasmussen see in Grand Island Superintendent Steve Joel, who will become superintendent of the Lincoln Public Schools on July 1.

All three said it's important in their opinion for Grand Island's next superintendent to have those qualities as well.

Last week, Randy Nelson of McPherson & Jacobson said the search firm would not only work to get a consensus opinion from the Grand Island school board on the qualities it wants in Grand Island's next superintendent, but also would get input from students, parents, business leaders, teachers and administrators.

As a result, The Independent interviewed three people to gather their preliminary thoughts on the qualities the next superintendent should have to serve the Grand Island Public Schools.  Full Story
