During this spring's town hall meetings on the school budget, Grand Island Public Schools patrons have questioned how much has been spent on administrative salaries, a remodeling of the superintendent's office and buses and school vehicles.

As a result of those inquiries, The Independent first asked for information on administrative and teacher salaries for a story published on April 17.

That article said that central office administrators make up 3.05 percent of district total compensation expenses, that building administrators account for 5.25 percent of district total compensation expenses, certified staff (teachers, counselors, etc.) account for 73.85 percent of total district compensation, and classified staff (secretaries, maintenance and custodial workers, food service staff, etc.) make up 17.85 percent of total district compensation.
