The Grand Island school board will have a special meeting at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, to approve the superintendent's contract for Rob Winter, who is currently superintendent of the Salina Public Schools in Salina, Kan.
The Grand Island school board chose Winter to become Grand Island's next school superintendent during a special meeting on Dec. 6. That closed-door meeting was held after the board had conducted interviews with a total of four job candidates, including Winter, the previous week.
Winter served as superintendent for the Scottsbluff Public Schools from 1994 to 2004 when he moved to Salina to become superintendent of that school district, which has about 7,100 students.
