Grand Island, Nebraska: Every Student, Every Day, A Success!

Farmington (Minn.) Superintendent Brad Meeks said the increasing ability of school districts to collect more data on student achievement may soon present schools with the exciting challenge of creating profiles on every student so they can personalize each student’s education.
Meeks, one of four finalists for the job of Grand Island Public Schools superintendent, made that comment when he was interviewed by the Grand Island school board.
Grand Island, like all school districts, will face an immediate problem with its budget as states across the nation are preparing to cut state aid to K-12 education, Meeks said. That will mean school districts will have to maximize available resources and perhaps try to do more with less in the short term.
But Meeks said school districts will also be facing longer-term challenges. He referred to one educational publication that predicted because of advances in technology that 50 percent of high school classes will be taught online by the year 2019. Full Story
