Penny war at Walnut Middle School

Walnut Middle School is sponsoring a penny war in order to raise money to donate to the Red Cross for relief in Japan.

The idea came about during a Primetime class when seventh-graders Cristina Hernandez and Matt Contreras decided they wanted to help by doing a penny war.

“The earthquake in Japan was the topic of the day when the kids got this idea,” Assistant Principal D.W. Holley said. “In order to do it though, we told the kids they had to be in charge of it.”  Full Story
