The Grand Island school board Thursday night approved a purchase agreement for $650,000 to buy the former Pentair Water building, 1215 S. Adams St., from Sta-Rite Industries.

GIPS intend to convert the building into a center for vocational, technical and career education.

Robin Dexter, GIPS assistant superintendent for student services, filled in for Superintendent Steve Joel, who was returning from a trip to China.

In an interview prior to his trip, Joel said purchase of the Pentair property is an outgrowth of a trip last spring to the Phoenix area to see how Arizona provides career and technical education to its students.  Full Story
