Nebraska author tells students how details make the story

Second through fifth graders listened Monday to N.L. Sharp talk about how she decided when she was their age that she wanted to write.

Sharp, of Fremont, was at Seedling Mile Elementary School for Young Authors Day. The project, titled "Cooking up the traits with N. L. Sharp," was funded through the Classroom Mini-Grant Program of the Grand Island Education Foundation.

"I've known since I was a second grader that I wanted to be an author," she told the students. Sharp said she attended a one-room school near Valentine, where she was the only student in her class and her teacher looked for things, like reading books, that the students in all eight grades could enjoy.  Full Story
