The Grand Island school board is trying to keep its search for a new superintendent on the fast track.

The board chose three finalists -- Ray & Associates of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; McPherson & Jacobson of Omaha, and Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates of Glenview, Ill. -- to interview Wednesday evening.

Each superintendent search firm will be given 15 minutes to make a presentation, followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer session with board members.

The question-and-answer period will include 15 minutes that can either be used as a break between the meeting with each firm or as a time for additional conversation between board members and firm representatives.

In choosing those three companies, Grand Island board members made it clear they want a national search for the new superintendent.

The last time the Grand Island school board conducted a search, its candidates included a school administrator from Iowa, a school administrator from Missouri and Steve Joel, who was then superintendent at Beatrice.  Full Story
