Mid-term grads begin new chapter

The first graduates of the Grand Island Senior High Class of 2012 took both a look back and a look forward on Thursday afternoon as part of midterm commencement ceremonies.
A total of 35 students, including one foreign exchange student, took part in the ceremony, which began with the young people marching into Senior High's auditorium to the traditional strains of "Pomp and Circumstance."
The look backward, with a small peek into the future, came from senior class speaker Vanessa Rodriguez. The strongest advice to look forward came from Superintendent Rob Winter and Senior High Principal Doug Jensen.
