Math for Moms and Dads event planned

A Math for Moms and Dads event is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Shoemaker and Wasmer elementary schools.

The Grand Island Education Association is sponsoring the event as part of its Public Engagement Project, said Deb Gnuse, GIEA president and a fourth-grade teacher at Wasmer Elementary School. Although the event is targeting parents of Shoemaker and Wasmer students, it is open to the public. Parent-teacher conferences will be occurring at the schools at the same time.

"Each grade level will have a 'booth' that the parents can visit," Gnuse said.

Shoemaker Elementary School is at 4160 Old Potash Highway, and Wasmer Elementary School is at 318 S. Clark St. The event will be at both schools both nights.  Full Story
