Marching bands brave the heat

With the temperature Thursday reaching 96 degrees and a possible heat index of 103, the Grand Island Senior High marching band members were thankful that they didn't have to wear their uniforms to the State Fair.
"It is so much better than wearing the full uniform," said Kayla Ward, drum major at GISH. Most of the band members were sporting shorts with their school shirts.
GISH Band Director Louie Eckhardt said it was nice to let the students not have worry about changing in and out of a uniform, since they were going to be at the fair all day Thursday.
