Lincoln School staff gathers to surprise 80-year-old paraeducator on birthday

“You really surprised me!”

That was John Briseno Sr.’s exclamation when he walked into the Lincoln Elementary media center/library on Tuesday to find family members from Grand Island, Lincoln and Colorado Springs all waiting for him.

The family members had gotten together this past weekend to celebrate Briseno’s 80th birthday, which was Tuesday.

Because a person only celebrates an 80th birthday once, Briseno had asked Principal Brad Wentzlaff for a little time off Tuesday afternoon so he could tell his extended family goodbye before they made their return trips home.  Full Story
