Jefferson Elementary third-graders showed Friday afternoon that they may be just as creative as Mother Nature.

Teacher Ashley Collins recently went to her aunt and uncle’s farm near Hampton to collect plenty of gourds so that there would be enough for each student in all three sections of the third grade to get a gourd to decorate with Tempera paint.

It seemed as though no two gourds that Collins brought to school were exactly alike. Her collection included oblong gourds, round gourds, gourds with grooves running from top to bottom and gourds with bumps.  Full Story
