JBS, schools encourage workers to attend parent-teacher conferences

JBS employees are being encouraged to attend this week's parent-teacher conferences in the Grand Island Public Schools.
The encouragement is coming via five lunch-and-learn sessions that JBS hosted for its employees and representatives from the schools.
Conferences will be Monday, Feb. 6, for parents of children in pre-kindergarten, K-5 and 6-8; Tuesday, Feb. 7, for Pre-K, K-5 and 9-12; and Wednesday, Feb. 8, for Pre-K, K-5, 6-8 and 9-12.
Human Resources Manager Rigo Mendiola said the meetings between JBS employees and school representatives are the result of a community leaders meeting that involved JBS, school officials, doctors, bankers, Heartland United Way officials and CNH.
Mendiola said everyone brainstormed on ways to make connections between JBS employees and the community.
