"The Very Hungry Caterpillar" is a great children's book.

Especially when it is read by an expert reader such as Robin Dexter, Grand Island Public Schools assistant superintendent for student services.

Within a few brief, colorfully illustrated pages and a few, short minutes, young people can learn reading skills, the days of the week, how to count and even a little good nutrition advice.

Dexter went to five kindergarten classrooms at Dodge Elementary and two kindergarten classrooms at Stolley Park Elementary to read the book to children Thursday. She said Superintendent Steve Joel also went to classrooms that day to read the book as part of a "Jumpstart Read For the Record" event.  Full Story
