GRAND ISLAND —
Nancy Jones, executive director of TeamMates, will give a report on the TeamMates program to the Grand Island school board on Thursday night.

TeamMates is a school-based mentoring program that matches an adult to act as a mentor for a student. Under the program, an adult meets with a student one hour per week at school.

The goal of the program is to get a student to graduate from high school and to consider enrolling in a post-secondary education program.

The TeamMates program in Nebraska was co-founded by Tom and Nancy Osborne.

Only two action items are on Thursday night's agenda. One is approval of an administrative agreement of health savings accounts and the other is acceptance of the annual audit report.  Full Story
