The Grand Island school board will be asked to formally approve a revised set of board operating principles when it meets Thursday night.

The revised principles were developed during a recent board retreat.

They cover 11 areas including 1, being educational advocates; 2, team focus; 3, personal development; 4, positive relationships; 5, open communications; 6, public concerns; 7, team interactivity; 8, meeting format; 9, team decision-making; 10, planning, goal setting and accountability; and 11, board leadership.

Superintendent Steve Joel said the board operating principles were first adopted as he was hired as superintendent and he said they have served both him and the district well.  Full Story
