GISH's 'Carol' a return to classic Dickens

That’s how Grand Island Senior High junior Riley Menagh and senior Emily Kier described this weekend’s production of "A Christmas Carol," which features both adult actors from the community and Senior High students.
Two of the adults in the Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon productions are George Ayoub as Scrooge and Jerry Poels as Jacob Marley.

Dickens originally wrote "A Christmas Carol" as a novella and took the stage many times after the book’s publication to read a shortened version. However, many fans of "A Christmas Carol" know it best from seeing it on stage or watching one of its many cinematic versions.
Movie variations of "A Christmas Carol" have been especially inventive in telling Dickens’ story of the cold-hearted Ebenezer Scrooge, with interpretations ranging from the 1970 musical, "Scrooge," starring Albert Finney; to a 1988 comedy, "Scrooged," starring the irrepressible Bill Murray; and "The Muppet Christmas Carol" that, of course, featured the Muppets.
