GISH students, new band director adjusting to each other

GRAND ISLAND —
The theme for this year's Grand Island Senior High marching band is "Getting to Know You."

No, that's not the music the band is playing for its field show.

Instead, it's the unstated theme of the week as new Director Louie Eckhardt and the 170 members of the GISH marching band familiarize themselves with one another.

Eckhardt, a graduate of Hastings High School and Hastings College, said he did his student teaching with former GISH Band Director Jim Kordik.
