GISH looks to improve alternative ed

Pathways, not hallways.

That's Superintendent Steve Joel's plan for dealing with the question of whether Grand Island Senior High is too big.

Specifically, Joel is concentrating on creating an alternative education pathway for high school students and numerous technical/career pathways for students at the former Pentair building, which the district recently purchased.

In the meantime, Joel does not want to talk about any large-scale brick-and-mortar solution to handle enrollment growth at Senior High or other grade levels, even though many elementary schools have added modular classrooms in recent years.  Full Story
