GISH hostings Jazz Band Festival Monday

Grand Island Senior High’s annual Jazz Band Festival will be Monday at the school, said Louie Eckhardt, director of bands.

The clinicians will be Paul Haar, professor of jazz studies and saxophone at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; Peter Madsen, professor of jazz studies and trombone at the University of Nebraska at Omaha; and Steve Helfand, percussionist with the U.S. Air Force Heartland of America Band and drummer with the U.S. Air Force Noteables.

The event is open to the public, and there is no admission charge.

Each ensemble will perform for approximately 20 minutes and then receive a critique.  Full Story
