GISH grad helping in Haiti

A Grand Island Senior High graduate who entered the U.S. Navy as a high school junior recently went to Haiti to help with the earthquake aftermath.

Anna Brooks graduated from high school early in 2001 and turned 18 in boot camp in 2002.

She's now a chief petty officer on the USS Carl Vinson, which was deployed from California to Haiti immediately after the earthquake.

"We were the first ones on scene, as far as I know," Brooks said in a recent e-mail interview.  Full Story
