GISH football field getting synthetic turf

Excavating dirt at Grand Island Senior High has become a high-visibility project.

It’s all part of a summer project to replace the real grass on the football field at Memorial Stadium with Real Grass synthetic turf.

Motorists who drive on State Street between Lafayette Avenue and Custer Avenue can get a close-up view of a new detention cell that is being dug out on the south side of the school’s athletic field.

They also can get a more distant look at the mounds of earth piled on the football field itself.  Full Story
