GISH band has mixed emotions over last State Fair trip

LINCOLN -- Most of the Grand Island Senior High marching band's parade route at the Nebraska State Fair on Wednesday went straight past colorful signs promoting such delicacies as cheese on a stick, fried Oreos and loaded Polish dogs.

So it wasn't much of a surprise to hear what was on the band's mind throughout its performance.

"There's fried everything on a stick!" senior Richard Guevara told a fellow trombone player as the band lined up.

"I smell barbecue, and it's making me hungry," director Louie Eckhardt confided as the band began marching.  Full Story
