GIPS to hold first ever fifth-grade leadership conference

The Grand Island public schools is presenting a leadership conference for fifth-grade students on Monday, Nov. 23, said Seedling Mile Elementary School Principal Lee Wolfe.

Three to five fifth-grade students from each of the 14 elementary schools in the district will be invited to attend the conference. The event will be from 12:45 to 2:45 p.m. at Westridge Middle School, 4111 W. 13th St.

This is the first year that the school district has sponsored a leadership conference for fifth-grade students, and district officials plan to make it an annual event.

Dan Woods, administrator for Nebraska Christian Schools in Central City, will be the keynote speaker. Woods will give a presentation about the main characteristics of leadership from 12:45 to 1:30.  Full Story
