GIPS' test results remarkable, encouraging

Now that all the sensationalism is over about the reading and math test results in Nebraska schools and detailed results have been made public, let’s look at the Grand Island results more carefully.

This analysis includes only results for elementary schools because deficiencies there are difficult to overcome in later years. Due to the strong link between poverty and test results, the analysis is broken down by poverty levels, where poverty is defined as being eligible for free or reduced meals at school (family income under 185 percent of the Federal Poverty Level).  Full Story
