Schools’ new kitchen will economize, expedite food preparation

Think big. That motto exemplifies the planning and work that has gone into the new Grand Island Public Schools’ central kitchen, located on the northeast side of the Kneale Administration Building.

Dan Petsch, director of operations and buildings, said the project is designed to make food preparation more efficient.

Lisa Moss, nutrition services supervisor, said the school district serves about 4,500 school lunches to elementary students every day and another 2,200 lunches to secondary students. She said those 6,700 daily meals will only grow in number as enrollment in the district expands.  Full Story
