Grand Island school board member Randy Blair offered his resignation from the board effective at the end of this year.
As a result, Superintendent Rob Winter is asking the remainder of the board to make an expedited search for a person to fill Blair’s unexpired term, which runs through Dec. 31, 2012.
Winter said he would like to have the new school board board member appointed and seated by the January school board meeting. He said he would like to meet that deadline because state law mandates that an appointed incumbent face a Feb. 1, 2012, deadline to file for re-election.
