The Grand Island school board on Thursday evening approved hiring the National School Public Relations Association to conduct a communication audit for the school district.
The audit will help the district assess the effectiveness of its communication strategies, including identifying strengths, weaknesses and communication gaps. The audit will recommend cost-effective ways for the district to achieve its goals. It will identify patrons’ perceptions about the Grand Island school district and its individual schools.
The audit also will specifically look at parent, community and staff issues and concerns. Other parts of the audit will look at the district’s short- and long-term goals. It will explore new communication and marketing strategies and the staffing needed to carry them out. It also will provide a way to evaluate the effectiveness of the district’s revamped communication program.
