GIFD spreading fire safety in schools

The Grand Island Fire Department is visiting elementary schools around town this week to spread fire safety and prevention information.

Today, Newell Elementary was on the agenda for a morning of instruction and simulation.

Fire Capt. Jim Hale said the kindergarten and first-grade classes came outside to look at the trucks, and he went inside to talk with second-graders about stove safety, fire safety and wearing helmets and seat belts.
