Gibbon, Grand Island, Kearney schools awarded grants

The State Board of Education has awarded new and continuing grants for Grand Island area before- and after-school programs.

Gibbon received a new grant for $58,050 for its elementary school.

The Grand Island Public Schools received renewal of a grant. Grand Island is one of six quality programs at 23 schools across the state that will continue to receive federal grants for 21st Century Community Learning Center programs.

The primary goals of 21st Century Community Learning Centers are improved student learning, increased social benefits and positive behavioral changes, as well as increased family and community engagement in Nebraska schools.  Full Story
