G.I. students improve performance on statewide reading tests

Both Northwest and Grand Island Public School students seem to have improved their performance on the second statewide reading test.

Students in both school systems also seem to have held up fairly well for the first published data on the statewide math test, which was administered to Nebraska students for the first time last spring.

Because the Nebraska math test was given for the first time, all its results are considered baseline data. Trends will begin to become available as additional tests are given in future years.

That's already happening with the reading tests, which are now in their second year. Northwest Public Schools curriculum coordinator Jane Brown said the district adopted a new elementary reading curriculum.  Full Story
