G.I. Senior High School students win robotics tournament

Grand Island Senior High School’s Robotics Team won the Central Nebraska VEX Robotics Competition in Kearney on Feb. 12.

The win qualifies the Grand Island team to advance to high school competition at the U.S. National Robotics Championship in Omaha on March 10-12 and to participate in the World VEX Robotics Competition in Orlando, Fla, April 14-16 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

More than 168 robotics teams are involved with the VEX Robotics Competition in Nebraska.
Members of the Grand Island Senior High School Robotics Team include Guadalupe DeLeon, John Hamburger, Jorgan McElligott, Michael McElligott, and Leighten Repp.

Dr. Julie Hehnke, an integration specialist at the high school; and Kris McElligott coach the team.
