G.I. schools receive Nebraska Arts Council grants

Grand Island Public Schools has received five Artists in Schools/Communities grants from the Nebraska Arts Council to help fund artists-in-residence at five elementary schools between January and May.
The schools, grant amounts, dates, artists and other information, listed chronologically:
n Wasmer Elementary School: $810 grant for Grand Island artist Nancy Fairbanks’ residency from Jan. 24 through 28, involving clay. Teacher Deb Gnuse is the school coordinator for the residency.
n Gates Elementary School: $450 grant for Fairbanks’ residency from Feb. 28 through March 4. Teacher Sara Robinson is the school coordinator.
n Shoemaker Elementary School: $450 grant for Fairbanks’ residency from May 9 through 13. Teacher Pat Rerucha is the school coordinator.
n Knickrehm Elementary School: $1,125 grant for Lincoln artist Nancy Childs’ residency from May 16 through 20, involving papermaking. Teacher Janet Jobes is the school coordinator.
